Ángel Augusto Páez Rincón:
About Me
I am Ángel Augusto Páez Rincón, I was born in Bogotá, Colombia and I am a proud Canadian Citizen. I consider
myself to be an autodidact; I taught myself English as a second language just in my midlife age. By reflecting that
God has given me the opportunity to enrich my life no matter my age, and founded on my preparation to do that, I
took some ESL college courses, and got a Community and Cultural Interpreter Certificate, and a Social Service
Worker College Diploma.
I completed the fourth year in the Bachelor Arts Honours in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies (ALDS)
Minor in French, and concurrently took the Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL), at
Carleton University. As a Lifelong Learner I believe that, by studying languages, one can be better prepared to
understand the world around us, the problems we have, and how to solve them. Therefore, by been a language
teacher, many new doors will open for those who have certification.
In terms of professional development, and of short-term goals, it is a good idea to keep learning and perfecting p in
my chosen area of teaching. By applying to Coursera and taking the courses offered by Arizona State University, I
completed the curses of Teach English Now!
These courses had helped me to start learning to effectively control any sign of uneasiness and finding new ways
to do better at the use of technology. It is never too late! By improving in the use of technology, it will facilitate my
learning. By achieving my personal and professional goals, it will certainly contribute to my development as a
CTESL teacher.
I want to be a teacher that cares about their students' learning needs; I want my future students to see me as a
flexible, thoughtful person; someone in whom they can trust.
